About the course
The history of American cinema spans almost 125 years and involves thousands of writers, producers, directors, and performers. But within that history, certain artists stand out for their lifelong body of work. This course will focus on five directors from the period when Classic Hollywood Filmmaking was at its peak—Alfred Hitchcock, John Ford, Howard Hawks, Frank Capra and Billy Wilder. Each session will feature clips from interviews with the directors and scenes from their films.
