For the first-time homebuyer, purchasing their dream home can be a daunting experience, and most times they do not know where to start. This is a comprehensive 6-week course that will provide first-time homebuyers with information that they will need to buy a home. We will discuss how to save for homeownership, what happens during the mortgage loan process, good questions to ask a real estate agent, what is involved in finalizing and closing the mortgage loan, and lots more. Resources will also be provided.

About the instructor
Dr. Joy Cox
Dr. Cox is a licensed senior mortgage loan originator (MLO) with a local mortgage lender. She possesses a doctorate in college student personnel and a master’s degree in school counseling. Her life’s works has included a variety of careers, from an instructor and educator to a mortgage loan originator.
Dr. Cox believes that purchasing a home is the single most important financial decisions you and your family will make in your lifetime. That is why she seeks to educate you on the mortgage loan process and show you its benefits to save you and your family lots of money. Her goal is to provide you with the answers to questions and concerns that you may be seeking so that you can make the best-informed decision. Her expertise includes home purchases and refinances, and she is proficient with several loan products and programs including conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
