March 2012

Associate Professor of Biology, Dr. Doug Darnowski, had a paper published, with former IU Southeast student Yana Santiago as first author, in the March issue of the Journal of the International Carnivorous Plant Society. The title is "Mycorrhizal Formation by Various Carnivorous Plants."

The third revision of Understanding Medical Coding: A Comprehensive Guide, co-authored by Senior Lecturer of Biology, Ms. Sandra Johnson, MS, CPC, CMA (AAMA) was published March 1, 2012, published by Delmar Cengage. This includes a medical coding textbook, student workbook, and instructor's manual as well as online instructor and student resources.

Dr. Suranga Hettiarachchi from the Computer Science Department had a book chapter published:

Ms. Sandra Johnson of Allied Health attended the American Association of Medical Assistants conference in Indianapolis, September 23-27. This is a national conference for medical assistants and educators of medical assisting, medical coding, and medical transcription. An important event at this conference: The third edition of Understanding Medical Coding, co-authored by Sandra Johnson and Robin Linker, scheduled to be published January 2012 by Delmar Cengage Publishers, will be featured at the publishers showcase at this conference.

Dr. Douglas Darnowski, from the Biology Department had a peer-reviewed paper accepted by the Journal of the International Carnivorous Plant Society on "Prey Preference in Corkscrew Plants."

2010 & Earlier

Dr. Randy Hunt co-authored a paper with colleagues at the University of Missouri and University of Wisconsin. The paper, Host shifts and signal divergence: mating signals covary with host use in a complex of specialized plant-feeding insects, was published in Biological Journal of the Linnean Society (2010).

Dr. Randy Hunt's publication on the vibrational mating behavior of insects was featured in the fall 2010, IU Research & Creative Activity report and was recently published in the Biological Journal of the Linnean Society.
