Schedule highlights

Check-in for orientation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the program starting at 9 a.m. We will kick off the day with a Welcome from our Chancellor followed by a Student Central information session which will cover things like paying your bill, financial aid, and scholarships. Students and parents/families will then be split into groups.

Students

Students will have several sessions including an Academic School session where they will be able to meet with faculty members, advisors, and current students from their Academic School and learn more about what to expect from their program.

Parents/Families

Parents and families that attend orientation with their students will be able to participate in several sessions that will help them gain a better understanding of what our campus offers their students and how the support them throughout their time at IU Southeast.

Orientation will end with a Resource and Involvement fair where students and their families can explore the resources and organizations at IU Southeast. Lunch will also be provided during this time.

Parking and directions

Orientation will begin in the Ogle Center. There will be red and white flags in front of the entrance and Orientation Leaders helping direct people as they arrive. Please note that in case of bad weather (i.e., rain, strong winds) the red and white flags may not be up.

Parking is free. The closest parking lot to the Ogle Center entrance is Lot 5 (Dogwood Lot). Please reference our Campus Map.

It is not required for parents to attend orientation but they are welcome to and will have sessions for parents/families.

We do not have an alternative orientation you can attend if you are unable to make it to any of the dates. However, all new students are invited to Induction Day, which happens the Friday before classes start and is another way to connect to the Grenadier community.

Yes, you are welcome to bring a friend or significant other, and they can attend your sessions with you if they want. We do ask that students do not bring more than two guests with them.

No, you do not need to attend orientation if you are a transfer student, but you are welcome to if you would like. While orientation is most commonly attended by first-year students, there is a lot of useful information for transfer students as well.
