Data and Survey Requests
Under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) guidelines and regulations, IU Southeast may disclose "directory information" to academic departments, student organizations and other IU Southeast related organizations or groups only on the condition that the party to whom the information is disclosed will not disclose the information to a third party. This includes working with third parties in fund raising activities.
IU Southeast reserves the right to question the legitimacy of any and all information requests. IU Southeast reserves the right to refuse the request of any department, student organization or other IU Southeast related organization or group if the need for the information is not found to be valid.
IU Southeast will take immediate action against any and all parties where information is disclosed to a third party, which is a violation of the FERPA guidelines and of this data request release form. Any affiliated department, student organization or other IU Southeast related organization or group may also immediately lose their data request rights. As FERPA is a Federal law such violations may also result in prosecution by Federal or State authorities.
If you are requesting a survey, we will first identify existing sources of information related to your request. If inadequate sources exist, we will evaluate the need for a new survey and develop an appropriate plan for administration.
