Enrollment & Degree Verification
Indiana University Southeast has partnered with the National Student Clearinghouse to provide enrollment and degree verification information for loan deferment to our student lenders. Information about what has been shared with your lender is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year from the National Student Clearinghouse website.
It is important for students to keep their anticipated graduation date current. This information is used by lending agencies as part of their deferment processing. Federal law requires that the University collect information on all degree-seeking students that specify when a student expects to graduate. In addition, most financial aid providers require the same information as part of the enrollment verification/certification process.
We recognize that with our particular student population, students often take longer than the traditional four years in which to complete their degrees. It is to your advantage to keep this date current with your school advisor / recorder so that any third party, such as a financial aid provider, has the latest information.
Please contact your school/division office to change your anticipated graduation date.
Loan deferments processed via the National Student Clearinghouse are provided beginning Fall 2007 to the current term. For details about what information has been provided to your lenders, check the National Student Clearinghouse website.

- IU began transmitting enrollment records to the National Student Clearinghouse in the Fall of 2007 if a student supplied their Social Security Number (SSN). [Prior to Fall 2009 students who withheld their SSN will not be able to validate their enrollment at IU Southeast through NSC Self-Service. The Clearinghouse has no ability to link records that were once submitted under a UID and later submitted under an SSN.]
- Beginning Fall 2009 forward, student enrollment records are being transmitted to the National Student Clearinghouse with a University ID (UID) only.
Enrollment verifications (PDF) for students prior to Fall 2007 for medical insurance, good student discounts, childcare reimbursement, etc. will continue to be processed by the IU Southeast Office of the Registrar, UCS 107, by bringing photo identification.
The Office of the Registrar issues an official Indiana University document for verification of academic record information to agencies responsible for loan deferments, insurance companies, or other student benefit program organizations. Academic record information available for verification may include prior and/or current enrollment, enrollment status (full-time, part-time), grades, GPA, and final degree conferral.
IU Southeast will certify enrollment at the end of the 100% refund period for a particular term. IU Southeast will not certify enrollment for future terms even if a student has already registered for classes and paid for the term prior to the first day of the second week of classes. Visit the academic calendar for specific dates.
In some cases students may use current enrollment in the IU Independent Study program towards full or half-time enrollment for purposes of certification or loan deferment only. NOTE: The Office of Financial Aid will not consider enrollment through IU Independent Study towards any financial aid enrollment requirements until after the coursework has been completed. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.
It is the student's responsibility to inform the Office of the Registrar that she or he is enrolled in the IU Independent Study program as it will not automatically appear in our campus-based review.
Current students who simply want an unofficial copy of their course schedule or transcript may obtain one without charge through One.iu.edu.
See our Student Confidentiality & Disclosures link to see how the campus handles requests for information which are not initiated by the student.
