The 2021 IU Southeast Student Conference will be a synchronous virtual conference.
This means that you will be presenting your research in real time and your presentation will be very similar to what you would be doing in a face-to-face conference.
Your presentation will be assigned a Zoom room in one of the sessions on the day of the conference. You will be presenting in a Zoom room with 3 or 4 other presentations. You will be allotted 15 minutes for your presentation (roughly 12 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes for questions). Your audience will include the moderator/judges, your fellow presenters, other students, faculty members and members of the IU Southeast and local community (between 8 and 12 other individuals).
At the beginning of your presentation time, the moderator/judge will introduce you and your presentation. You will then be able to share your poster or power point slides and begin your presentation (be sure to practice your presentation several times and time yourself). When presenting, remember your audience and speak slowly and clearly. This will be the first time your audience will have heard your presentation and are just learning about your topic and will need time to process. So don’t speed through your presentation.
At the end of your presentation, ask for questions. Don’t forget to “unshare” your power point or poster.
