Glover, Joe

Since assuming the role of Indiana University Southeast director of intercollegiate athletics on July 1, 2010, Joe Glover has worked tirelessly to advance the department to one of the premier athletic programs in the NAIA. Glover is currently in his sixth year with the IU Southeast Athletic Department. He has previously served in several other capacities including assistant athletic director for athletic business and media relations and as the department's sports information specialist. Glover was appointed to the head of the athletic department in July 2010 by IU Southeast Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Ruth Garvey-Nix after the resignation of former Athletic Director Pat Mrozowski. Glover came to IU Southeast in 2005 from the University of Louisville where he worked in the athletic media relations department. As athletic director, Glover is responsible for the overall guidance, direction and management of the athletic department, which includes intramurals and the campus fitness center. During his time as athletic director, Glover has enacted many changes to help the department grow including changing and developing new policy that reinforces the department's ultimate goal of enhancing student development and retention. Now one of the youngest athletic directors in collegiate athletics, Glover brings a renewed vision for the department which includes a focus on student-athlete development and on the use of technology to help build the athletic program's image within the local and campus community. In his first five years at IU Southeast, Glover served as assistant athletic director and as sports information specialist. During that time, Glover's redesigns of the Grenadiers' athletic web site have resulted in web traffic increases of more than 95 percent. In 2009, Glover also designed and managed a complete web overhaul of the athletic department website which included the transition to the new In 2010, the NAIA-SIDA presented Glover with a prestigious award for his work on the IU Southeast website. was named the 2nd Best NAIA Athletic Website in 2010. Glover is very active in media relations management and assisted the University of Louisville media relations department with the first and second rounds of the 2010 NCAA Women's Basketball National Championship at Freedom Hall. Glover has also served as media coordinator and liaison for multiple Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) post-season tournaments, including the KIAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships in 2006. Glover graduated with distinction from IU Southeast in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Business. Glover's dedication to academics earned him the honor of being named Outstanding Marketing Graduate. In 2006, Glover earned his Associate of Science in Business Administration from IU Southeast and graduated from New Albany Sr. High School with an Indiana Academic Honors Diploma in 2004. While at New Albany High School, Glover was the football and basketball play-by-play radio voice of the Bulldogs for WNAS 88.1 FM and TV-25. A native of New Albany, Indiana, Glover is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and a conference representative for the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). Glover is also an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the NAIA Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA). This past year Glover was also appointed to the KIAC Executive Committee, the highest governing body of the athletic conference, where he will serve a two-year term as an at-large member. Glover resides in Oak Park, Ind. and is currently pursuing his masters of business administration (MBA) at IU Southeast.
