The Indiana University Southeast Police department is a fully empowered law enforcement agency. The main objective of this department is to ensure the safety, peace, and tranquility of the academic community. The University Police department's primary jurisdiction is on any real property owned or occupied by the University, or on any roads or streets through or adjacent thereto. The department also shares concurrent jurisdiction with, and assists, other local police agencies.

The University Police department, with eleven officers, patrols the campus on a 24-hour basis. The office is located in University Center North, room 027, and the telephone number is (812) 941-2400. Students and employees should report any criminal or suspicious activity on campus to this department immediately.

There are several emergency phones located throughout the campus that provides a direct line to the Police department. These phones should only be used to report crimes in progress, accidents, or need for medical assistance.
