Basic HTML Version

This issue of Transformations is designed to introduce faculty to the work
of the Diversity Academy and invite you to take advantage of what it
may offer. We hope that questions, feedback, and news of your work
will transform students’ understanding and appreciation of diversity.
Welcome to the lead issue of
Transformations
, the Diversity Academy
e-zine written for faculty about faculty.
It is published twice a year to showcase
academic contributions to enrich our
curriculum, and through it, our campus
and regional climate for diversity and
inclusiveness.
The Diversity Academy was established
within the Office of Academic Affairs in
2007-08, led by former Associate Vice
Chancellor Sheying Chen. A grant from
the President’s IU Diversity Initiative
brought us two post-doctoral fellows
who stimulated multicultural curricular
development, Allison Riggle (2009-10)
and Seonmin Huh (2010-11).
Judy Myers, School of Nursing,
became the academy’s first faculty
fellow in research (2009-11). She has
collaborated with Floyd Memorial
Hospital to test the efficacy of massage
therapy to alleviate the after-effects of
fatigue and insomnia suffered by women
radiated for breast cancer.
