Staff Council Legacy Award
The IU Southeast Staff Council Legacy Award recognizes full-time staff members for their exceptional contributions as they carry forward the campus’s mission and core values as part of a rich legacy of all IU Southeast staff, past and present, who share in the ongoing commitment to our campus community.
A call for nominations will be sent out from Staff Council to all full-time staff annually during a two week period in the spring. The Staff Council will determine when nominations will be solicited. Nominations will be submitted to Staff Council via a method determined by the Council with the nominee’s name, department, and reason for nomination. The criteria for nomination should encompass the staff member’s workplace or campus-related activities that demonstrate the exceptional ongoing contributions to IU Southeast’s campus mission and core values. The call for nominations will be sent to all staff to nominate another peer. Nominations may also be accepted for any staff from any IU Southeast student, faculty, or staff member.
After nominations close, a committee of four Staff Council members will review the nominations, with a decision on the recipients of the award within two weeks.
Two recipients will each receive a $100 award, a letter of recognition of the award to the staff member’s supervisor, and an announcement from Staff Council to all staff of the award recipient. Award recipients are not eligible for another award for a five-year period. If funding permits, the Staff Council may award additional winners in a year.
The presentation of the award will be at the opening of the following Staff Council meeting, with the recipient and their supervisor invited. If the recipient prefers, they can accept the award in a more informal setting.
Staff Council members are not eligible to be nominated for or receive the award during the time period in which they are actively serving on the Council.
