Paying for a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

The IU Southeast graduate program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is committed to delivering the best graduate education value in the region.

Your IU Southeast graduate degree will cost less than it would at a competitor school with options for tuition reciprocity, financial aid, and scholarships, and department specific aid.

Tuition Reciprocity

Students from Bullitt, Henry, Jefferson, Meade, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer and Trimble counties in Kentucky are eligible for in-state tuition at IU Southeast.

The Midwest Student Exchange Program (MSEP) enables residents of Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, and Wisconsin who are admitted as nonresident students to enroll at IU Southeast at a reduced cost. This program became effective in the Spring 2017 semester.

Sponsors/Employer Tuition Reimbursement

You might also be eligible for tuition reimbursement through your employer. Your employer will have to become authorized as your sponsor through IU Southeast Student Central.

Financial Aid

Graduate students are eligible for student loans. Keep the following in mind when applying:

  • A degree-seeking graduate student must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year to apply for Stafford Loans.
  • Graduate students must also enroll in at least four credit hours to be eligible for Stafford Loans.
  • Graduate students are also eligible for federal unsubsidized student loans (up to $138,500) if they complete the FAFSA and are enrolled at the minimum part-time status.

Post-baccalaureate students are not eligible for financial aid but may become eligible by enrolling in a degree-seeking program.

Learn more at the IU Southeast Student Central.

Scholarships and Fellowships

Graduate merit fellowships are awarded to first-term grad students. The award selection is made by IU Southeast Graduate School representatives. $1,000 is awarded each year.

The Richard E. Riehl fellowship, awarded to M.S. Ed. students in even-numbered years, awards up to $1,000.

The Pearson Fund for Education awards up to 100 percent of tuition to IU Southeast students employed in K-12 Harrison County (Ind.) schools and administered through the Harrison County Community Foundation.
