Music

The Music Department at Indiana University Southeast, one of the eight branch campuses of Indiana University, offers two degrees in Music: the B.A. in Music (with Concentrations in Composition, Music Industry, and Performance) and the B.S. in Music (with Concentrations in Audio Production, Music Business and Music Education). Both degrees offer students rigorous programs that combine musical and academic study.

Students engage in a broad range of music courses that includes performance, music theory, music history, music technology, as well as classes appropriate for the focus of their selected concentration. An array of general academic subjects traditional to the liberal arts are offered to equip students with skills and knowledge in written and oral communication to provide an excellent academic foundation for personal development and professional flexibility. Our goal is to help students fully develop their unique musical abilities with the goal of being prepared in both knowledge and skills for a professional life in music. Our program features small class sizes and attention to the individual.

Graduate degrees offered in collaboration with the School of Education

IU Southeast is now offering music concentrations for Master of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Science in Secondary Education. These programs are designed for elementary music teachers or secondary (high school or middle school) band, choir or orchestra teachers with a bachelor's degree, looking to enhance their teaching skills.

Opportunities for non-music majors
