2013 Music History Research Award Winners Announced

The third annual IU Southeast Music History Research Award winners have been announced. Beth Bloom, senior accounting major, has won first place for her paper, "The Cheerful Home of Johann Sebastian Bach," which investigates how Bach's wives and children aided him in copying music and provided a warm and nurturing environment. Percussionist Allison Bohm, last year's winner, won second place for her paper, "Alban Berg and his Wozzeck," an analytical investigation of Berg's best-known composition. The award recognizes originality and superior scholarship in both research and writing. Any IUS student in an upper-level music literature or history class is eligible to win. For more information, visit www.ius.edu/music/current-students.html#HistoryAward or contact Dr. Ann Glazer Niren.
