Undergraduate Scholarships

Indiana University Southeast Scholarships

Alumni Association Scholarship

The IU Southeast Alumni Association will be awarding up to $10,000 in scholarship monies.

Angela Marie McIntosh Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: October 15)

Must be a senior majoring in elementary education at IU Southeast. Must have and maintain 2.5 GPA or better. Financial need considered as measured by FAFSA, but not sole determining factor. Must reapply each year.

Frances Beard Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: October 15)

Elementary education major; preference given to a member of Pi Lambda Theta majoring in primary grades; preference given to Clark County resident.

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana

This scholarship is awarded to disadvantaged students, including adults, seeking postsecondary education. Applications are due January 12 to school counselors for high school seniors, and January 26 to the Community Foundation for adult non-traditional students.
Both graduating seniors and those already attending college or those who would like to attend are encouraged to apply. Students may attend any accredited institution in the United States. Residents of Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties are eligible. The minimum scholarship will be $2,000 each for 10 to 20 awards.

Dorothy Bickers Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: October 15)

Undergraduate currently enrolled in teacher education at IU Southeast. Financial need may be considered, as measured by the FAFSA.

Foundation of the Retired Teachers In Indiana Scholarship

Each year scholarships are awarded to juniors or seniors in an Indiana college or university who are in a program leading to a degree in education. Minority Teacher Scholarship

The Minority Teacher Scholarship was created by the Indiana General Assembly to address the critical shortage of Black and Hispanic teachers in Indiana schools. An applicant must be a minority (defined as Black or Hispanic); an Indiana resident; and be admitted to an eligible institution as a full-time student. For more information, visit the website

Pi Lambda Theta-Velma Pearson Memorial Scholarship

The Pearson Scholarship was created by Velma Rae Pearson in 2000 to provide scholarships to worthy scholastically endowed students who will attend IU Southeast and who have expressed a desire to go into secondary education. The Indiana State Teachers Association Educator Scholarship

The Indiana State Teachers Association Educator Scholarship has been established by the ISTA Representative Assembly to recognize dependents of active ISTA members who are pursuing a degree in education. The Educator Scholarship is based upon academic achievement and leadership as expressed through co-curricular activities and community involvement. A $1,000 scholarship will be given annually to a dependent of an active ISTA member. This scholarship is renewable annually upon receipt of a request for renewal and a transcript, for three (3) additional years. The recipient must continue to pursue a teaching degree for the duration of this scholarship award. An application form, school transcripts, letters of recommendation, and essay are part of the application process. Graduate Scholarships

Dr. Richard E. Riehl Memorial Scholarship
(Deadline: March 10)

Graduate student majoring in education or undergraduate senior majoring in a medical field (alternating years - even numbered years awarded to education and odd numbered years awarded to medical field). Must have a 3.0 GPA; need may be considered but will not be a determining factor.

Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation

Offers Higher Education Fellowships.

Indiana Minority Teacher/Special Education Services Scholarship

This scholarship is available to minority students (defined as Black or Hispanic) seeking a teaching certification; or any student (minority and non-minority) seeking Special Education teaching certification, or Occupational or Physical Therapy certification who is an Indiana resident and an eligible U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

Knowles Science Teaching Foundation (KSTF)

KSTF Science and Mathematics Teaching Fellows are chosen from among individuals who have earned or are in the process of earning a degree in science, mathematics or engineering from a recognized institution of higher education. Fellowships are offered for individuals committed to teaching:

  • High School Mathematics
  • High School Physical Sciences
  • High School Biological Sciences

WHAS Crusade for Children Scholarships
(Deadline: January 29)

These scholarships are awarded to candidates enrolled in the IU Southeast graduate program in special education. Applicants must complete an application including a financial need statement.
